Exploring the concept of the Open Cellphone with experts, visionaries, and a variety of people in the field

This podcast started as a follow-on to the write-up DiamondCluster International vice-chairman John Sviokla had May 23, 2005, in the Wall Street Journal about the "Open Cellphone". We decided that this topic is important enough, and the amount of material to cover vast enough, that we should create an ongoing podcast to cover it.

A podcast is an audio recording, often in the style of a radio program, that is available as a file for download from a web server that is then listened to using a portable music player, such as the iPod from Apple or those from companies like Dell, Creative, and iRiver, or with music playing software on a personal computer such as Windows Media Player, Apple iTunes, or MusicMatch Jukebox. The files are often in MP3 format. Some people think of it as Tivo crossed with blogs crossed with NPR and satellite radio.

To listen to this podcast, do one of the following:

  • Go to the List of Shows page to find the show you want to listen to. Download the MP3 file by Right-Clicking on its "MP3 URL" link and choosing "Save Target As...", "Save Link As...", or equivalent depending upon your browser. Save the file on your computer and then either move a copy to your music player or play it directly on your computer.
  • Go to the List of Shows page to find the show you want to listen to. Click on the "MP3 URL" link to play it directly on your computer using your computer's music playing software (it may take a while to fully download before it starts playing).
  • Subscribe to the RSS Feed with appropriate "podcatching" software, such as iPodder, iPodderx, or Doppler and have that software take care of copying each new show to your music player as it becomes available.

The podcast's intro sequence and music were written and performed by David Rosenbloom expressly for this podcast.
